Who We Are
Advocacy For Incarcerated Families (AFIFA) is a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) Registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Act.
It offers its services through three main projects namely: Wives of Incarcerated Men Advocacy (WIMA),Support for children of incarcerated Parents (SCIP) and the Comprehensive Approach to the Reintegration of Ex- Convicts (CAREX-CON). Through these three service projects, AFIFA seeks to palliate the backlash of incarceration on the family unit. It envisions resilient families that can well absorb and adapt to effects of incarceration by uncuffing the family.
What We Do

- Participatory planning and implementation,
- Capacity building and awareness creation through Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organization and Self-help groups,
- Food security through improved Agricultural productivity and livelihood together with host school lunch initiative,
- Psychosocial support through peer support-groups and psychological counseling
- Connectivity and belonging through pen-pals and exchange programs.
- Family economic empowerment through income generating activities
- Talent identification and development through the after school program.
- Defending rights of the incarcerated families through legal representation

WIVES OF INCARCERATED MEN ALLIANCE (WIMA)
Wives of Incarcerated Men Alliance (WIMA) is an outfit that enables these women to stand firm as pillars for both their imprisoned husbands and their children. WIMA ties together all these women in a warm wall of psychological, socioeconomic and legal support from, well-wishers and both past and present victims of spousal incarceration.

COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO THE REINTEGRATION OF EX- CONVICTS (CAREX-CON).
Comprehensive Approach to the Reintegration of Ex- Convicts (CAREX-CON). Community empowerment center will seek to mitigate the psychological, social and economic impacts of imprisonment on prisoner, family and society.

SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN OF INCARCERATED PARENTS (SCIP)
SCIP as a project of AFIFA is geared towards creating a haven for the children of incarcerated parents. It accesses these children through schools partnering with AFIFA under the SCIP project. SCIP provides psychological support and empowerment to enable those children to fit in the society despite lacking one or both parents due to incarceration.
